To the Perfect Shape Comes Common Ground: How Text Gets Paired with Song

  • Meisel Room at Westminster 1200 South Marquette Avenue Minneapolis, MN, 55403 United States (map)

Please join us for an exploration of the innovative world where poem and song unite. How do composers choose poetry to set to music? When do they commission new poems? What’s it like to write a poem for music?

Source Song Festival is pleased to host a discussion exploring these and other questions. Panelists are: poets Joyce Stuphen and Michael Dennis Browne, and composers Carol Barnett and Liam Moore.

This event includes world premieres by Libby Larsen and Carol Barnett written especially for this occasion.
