Alexandra Colaizzi
Praised for her “vocally fierce” and “deep-toned” mezzo-soprano voice (South Florida Classical Review), Alex(andra) Colaizzi brings a compelling blend of warmth and versatility to esteemed stages throughout the United States. Dr. Colaizzi's career features collaborations with premier professional choral ensembles such as the GRAMMY® nominated Seraphic Fire, the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, the Origin Initiative, and the Franklin Chamber Choir. She has appeared as a performer and soloist with the GRAMMY® award-winning vocal band Roomful of Teeth and the John Daversa Jazz Orchestra, recently appearing on composer Justin Morell's acclaimed album, "All Without Words.” As a dedicated scholar and researcher, Dr. Colaizzi presented her research Combined Respiratory Muscle Training in Singing Practice at the Pan-American Vocology Association conference in 2023. Her other research interests include cisgendered female vocal mutation, LGBTQ+ studies in singing practices, and self-efficacy in the private voice studio.
As of 2024, Dr. Colaizzi serves as part-time lecturer in voice at University of Miami and Miami Dade College. She enjoys a varied career of performing and research, appearing as guest lecturer for special topics in vocal pedagogy at universities around the country. She also serves as Artistic Education Coordinator for the Seraphic Fire Youth Initiative, designing curricula for educational outreach workshops throughout South Florida. Dr. Colaizzi earned degrees in vocal pedagogy, vocal performance, and music education. Most recently, she completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Miami Frost School of Music.
