Carson Covey
Carson Covey, originally from Winner, SD, is a K-12 music educator, professional piano accompanist, and piano teacher. He currently is the 7-12th grade vocal music teacher in the Lennox School District. In addition to his duties at Lennox, he frequently collaborates with area universities to accompany student and faculty recitals. Before his position at Lennox, he served as a staff accompanist at the University of South Dakota and has taught choral music in South Dakota and Minnesota. In addition, Covey maintains a private piano studio.
Covey received his undergraduate from South Dakota State University in 2016 earning a degree in Vocal Music Education with an emphasis in piano. While attending SDSU, he served as an accompanist for the vocal and instrumental studios, and all three of the choirs. He was also featured as the featured performer for the SDSU Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity Day. Following his undergraduate studies, he went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Collaborative Piano from North Dakota State University in 2018. His duties at NDSU included accompanying voice students, instrumental students, choral ensembles, and participating in the annual chamber music festival. His primary instructors have been Ruby Reckling, Vicki Covey, Dr. John Walker, Dr. Tyler Wottrich, and Dr. Robert Groves.
Additionally, Covey has served as an organist and church musician for several congregations in South Dakota, North Dakota, and Minnesota.
Carson resides in Sioux Falls, SD with his wife, Lexi, and his son, Wyatt.
