Christine Albrecht

Christine Albrecht is a composer, singer, and pianist, and is an incoming senior at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, studying music composition and chemistry. Growing up in San Jose, California, she started piano lessons at age four and choir at age five. During her thirteen years with Vivace Youth Chorus of San Jose, she toured in Colorado, Oregon, England, and Québec. In high school, she sang in eight California regional and all-state honor choirs, the 2017 ACDA National Honor Choir directed by Eric Whitacre, and the 2019 Monterey Jazz Festival with her high school’s vocal jazz ensemble. She began seriously composing when she was sixteen, starting with SSA trios she and her sisters sang and her father accompanied, and had her first choral work, “When Music Sounds”, premiered by Vivace in May 2019. At St. Olaf, she has sung in the Manitou Singers and Cantorei, and currently sings in the Chamber Singers and the Ole Ave Vocal Jazz Ensemble, which she co-leads. She has studied composition under Timothy Mahr and Mary Ellen Childs. Outside her musical endeavors you can find her making concoctions in the lab, running on the St. Olaf cross country and track teams, and cycling in the hills of the South Bay Area.
