Georgia Jacobson

A native of Duluth, Minnesota, mezzo-soprano Georgia Jacobson recently debuted with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl in Chris Thile’s ATTENTION! Career highlights include her professional debut as Maman/Tasse/La libellule in L’enfant et les sortiléges with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Louis Langrée as well as covering the role Virginia Woolf in the world premiere The Hours by Kevin Puts with the The Philadelphia Orchestra. Jacobson was scheduled to workshop the same role at The Metropolitan Opera, but it was cancelled due to COVID-19. 

Jacobson spent two summers as an Apprentice Artist at Des Moines Metro Opera where she covered Mary Johnson in Fellow Travelers and Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Jacobson has been a Sandford Studio Artist with Kentucky Opera where she was seen in La Cenerentola (Tisbe) and The Gift of the Magi (Maggie). She was also featured as a Chrisman Studio Artist with Opera Santa Barbara where she was seen in The Light in the Piazza (Margaret Johnson) and Die Walküre (Waltraute). She has appeared with Lyric Opera of the North in As One (Hannah Older) and Cavalleria Rusticana (Lola). On the concert stage Jacobson has appeared with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra as the mezzo-soprano soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. 

In competition, Jacobson won 1st Place in the National Opera Association’s 2020 Carolyn Bailey and Dominick Argento Vocal Competition and has won multiple awards in the Metropolitan Opera’s Eric and Dominque Laffont Competition.
