Jihyang (Jane) Son
Korean Canadian pianist Jihyang (Jane) Son is a sensitive and empathic collaborator who enjoys working with other musicians to share musical ideas and create storytelling. Son is also an active solo and collaborative pianist and holds various awards from piano competitions and has given solo and chamber music concerts throughout Canada and the US.
Son worked on a variety of repertoires in different genres through a teaching assistantship at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She performed with many instrumentalists and singers during studio classes and ensembles such as UMN Wind Ensemble, Campus Singers-Maroon, Men’s Chorus, and UMN Opera Theatre. Outside of school, she served as a pianist at church as a volunteer and she was also invited to attend and perform at Collaborative Piano Institute in the Summer of 2022.
Jihyang Son holds a Bachelor of Music, in Piano Performance as a full scholarship student and a Master of Music, in collaborative piano from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities under the tutelage of Dr. Kyung Kim and Dr. Timothy Lovelace.
