Jing-Fang Huang
Taiwanese pianist Jing-Fang Huang enjoys her career as a collaborative pianist, teacher, and vocal coach. Her passion for music has taken her to prestigious venues such as the Suntory Concert Hall, the Esplanade Concert Hall, the Jordan Hall, and the National Concert Hall of Taiwan.
As an avid collaborative pianist, Huang has served at numerous prestigious music institutions and festivals. These include the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, Boston University, Interlochen Summer Camp, and a fellowship at the Bowdoin Music Festival, as well as the Conservatory Audition Workshop. This year, she is one of the pianists at the NATS conference at Knoxville.
Huang holds a DMA in collaborative piano from Boston University under the tutelage of Shiela Kibbe. Among her other primary teachers are Chih-Long Hu and Elise Yun. Currently, she is a staff pianist at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, where she collaborates with instrumental and vocal students, closely working with the studios of Stephen Salters, Renée Tatum and Kimberly Roberts. She also serves as a vocal coach and rehearsal pianist in UT Opera Theatre.
Equally at home with vocal repertoire, Jing-Fang has collaborated with Mezzo-soprano Jeannette Lee for many art songs and chamber works in recital venues. Recently, they have been working with Sam Wu on programming an interdisciplinary presentation of his Songs Across Aeons, a song set responding to selected Chinese poems from the Tang Dynasty, first commissioned by Tianjin Juilliard School.
Jing-Fang is based in Knoxville and maintains a busy performance and teaching schedule. She aims to foster the growth of the arts in the East Tennessee area and her native Taiwan through her passion for chamber music. Outside of her time with piano, Jing-Fang enjoys reading, baking, and making great coffee.
